The House of Creed began with tailoring, not perfume. James Henry Creed opened his shop in London in 1760 and dressed the courts of Europe. Fragrance came the way it often does in a tailor's world: as a finishing touch, mixed for individual clients, then requested by name.
In 1854 the maison moved to Paris at the request of Empress Eugénie, and began supplying some of the era's most visible courts. Royal houses came and went; the formula book stayed. That book is the reason Creed can still quote its own archive when a composition is rewritten decades later.
Today the work is split between two places. The creative direction sits in Paris, where each new fragrance is written. The making happens in Ury, a village in the French countryside, where materials are weighed by hand, mixed in small batches and left to macerate and mature.
The house does not filter its perfume and does not rush the calendar. A batch is released when the batch is ready. That slower method is the difference you smell when a Creed fragrance opens on skin.

What is the difference between Creed Aventus and Aventus Cologne?
Aventus Cologne is a lighter, fresher reading of the original: same fruit, less smoke, more ginger and mandarin. Aventus wears heavier and stays longer. Choose the cologne for hot weather and daytime, the eau de parfum for everything else.
Are Creed perfumes suitable for both men and women?
Yes. The house labels some fragrances for men or women, but the compositions are not policed. Silver Mountain Water, Millésime Impérial, Royal Mayfair and Virgin Island Water are listed as unisex for a reason: they read well on anyone.
Does Creed offer perfume samples or discovery sets?
